Journey to Turkey : Bursa and Selcuk

By rizkarfw - April 14, 2024

Hello Turkey!

This is a continuation of our journey from Dubai, as we had a layover in Dubai before heading to Turkey. Alright, here's our journey in Turkey.

Day 1

We arrived at Istanbul Airport at 5:55 PM local time. Then we went through immigration and collected our baggage. Next, we headed to B1 to buy bus tickets to Bursa. However, unfortunately, there were no more tickets available. Plan B started. Eventually, we bought bus tickets from Istanbul Airport to Sabiha Gocken Airport, and then from Sabiha Gocken Airport to Bursa Otogar.

Day 2

We arrived at Bursa Otogar in the early morning, and I remember it was really cold. For the first time, I didn't understand what people were saying. Finally, I relied on my gut feeling and language skills. We anxiously waited for the bus, as it didn't arrive. We were afraid of getting on the wrong bus. Alhamdulillah, we got on the right bus and safely reached the hotel. We checked in, ate the kebabs we bought at the Bursa Otogar, and went to sleep. Our Hotel in Bursa is Waha Hotel.

Alright, let's explore Bursa while we have the chance. Our first destination was the Green Mosque. We took the bus and forgot where to get off, so we just followed the map and suddenly arrived at our destination. We strolled around the Green Mosque and then proceeded to Bursa Ulu Carsi and Ulu Cami near our hotel. Then we checked out and continued our journey to Selcuk, which took 7 hours.

We went to Bursa Otogar and took a bus to Selcuk Otogar. I remember stopping at a really nice and clean rest area. There was always some drama during this journey, haha. And we finally arrived at Selcuk Otogar. Since we couldn't walk, we took a taxi, which was expensive for such a short distance. It's okay, that's life. We stayed for one night at Ephesus Centrum Hotel. This hotel felt like heaven after a 7-hour journey from Bursa. I love this hotel so much, and the owner is very kind. Actually, it was still bright when we arrived in Selcuk, but I decided to rest at the hotel, and only Nadia went stroling around near the hotel.

Day 3

Our energy was fully restored after resting, hehe. Today's destination was the Ephesus Archeological Site. What's that place? It's one of the historical sites in Turkey. You can find more details on Google, sorry! Before heading out, we bought bus tickets online to Cappadocia because there's only one trip from Selcuk. The students were everywhere, haha. We spent the whole day at the Ephesus Archeological Site.

In the evening, we returned to the hotel to check out and find something to eat. I found delicious food! It's called Efes Kalyon Restaurant, one of the tasty places according to me and Nadia.

After eating, we headed to Selcuk Otogar to wait for the bus. The bus arrived at 4:30 PM. Here we go, Cappadocia! A 14-hour journey, haha. The buses in Turkey are very good and clean, and so are the rest areas. During the journey to Cappadocia, we could track the bus through the FlixBus app. There were stops and schedules. During the trip, we saw some people accompanying their children, relatives, or neighbors to military service. Long story short, we arrived at a rest area called Tuanna Rest Area. Here, we met a new friend from Indonesia named Mba Asih. So, we decided to explore Cappadocia together.
